From a single van to Georgia's premier adventure fleet.
Born from a Layoff, Built on Adventure
In June 2015, after a 20-year career in the music and radio industry—including roles at MCA Records and as Director of Programming for 97.1 The River—David Clapper found himself unexpectedly laid off. "I became a victim of a spreadsheet," he recalls.
Seeking clarity, David took a trip out West with his son and girlfriend, renting a campervan to explore Northern California and Yosemite. The experience was epic. But when he tried to find a similar rental in Atlanta for a surf trip to the Outer Banks, he came up empty. The Southeast had nothing like it.
The idea for Scamper Van was hatched. David teamed up with longtime friend Eric Van de Steeg to bring the concept to life. They funded the first van with their own cash and raised money for the second through an IndieGoGo campaign. By June 2017, Scamper Van was on the streets, eventually being named "Best Local Start-Up" by Creative Loafing.

Scamper Van Launches
The first van hits the road, funded by IndieGoGo. Named "Best Local Start-Up" by Creative Loafing.
2020
The Road Trip Boom
As travel changed, Americans rediscovered the open road. Scamper Van's fleet grew to meet the surge in demand.
2023
Joining Southern RV
Scamper joins the Four Seasons Investments family, gaining access to massive inventory and service infrastructure.

Operating out of McDonough and Cumming with a diverse fleet of vans, motorhomes, and trailers.
Joining Forces with Southern RV
In February 2023, Scamper RV Rentals entered an exciting new era by joining the Four Seasons Investments family, becoming a sister company to Southern RV.
This partnership was a game-changer. By leveraging Southern RV's decades of expertise, service infrastructure, and massive inventory, Scamper was able to expand beyond just camper vans.
Today, we offer a diverse fleet including Class C motorhomes and travel trailers, all maintained by certified technicians at Southern RV's state-of-the-art facilities in McDonough and Cumming, GA.
